Helium Safety
In order to use helium safely, please make sure you the read all the safety recommendations below. Please contact us if you have any doubts.
- We know that making your voice squeaky is funny, but you should not inhale helium under any circumstance, even in small amounts as it could lead to damage to your lungs or death by asphyxiation. The British Compressed Gasses Association endorses this message.
- Don't open up the valve on the cylinder without fitting an inflator kit first. Once this is done, you can then open the valve slowly.
- If the equipment is damaged or looks damaged, please don't use it or attempt to repair it yourself.
- If you are transporting your cylinder by road, please make sure the cylinder is well secured and the vehicle has good ventilation.
- Store cylinders in a well ventilated and away from direct heat
- Wear eye protection / goggles when inflating balloons.
- Whilst you are inflating the balloons, make sure you point the inflator and balloon away from you. Make sure you close the valve on the cylinder once you have finished.
- Whilst moving large cylinders, always make sure you use a trolley designed for moving gas cylinders, even if you are just moving it a short way.
- Significant injuries can occur if a cylinder falls or rolls over onto someone; with this is mind, make sure the cylinder is place in an upright position and fastened securely
- The use and operation of the cylinder should be by adults. Children are not and should not be permitted to use the equipment.
